Henry Ford taught us that to simplify the manufacture of automobiles, that the best way to do so was to install the assembly line. That one change revolutionized the auto manufacturing industry permitting the industry to build cars at a cost whereas the average person could afford to buy one.The lesson we should take from this is that having the ability to improve the process of getting the job quicker and cheaper, without compromising the quality of the job being done, will help catapult the person who simplified the process to the top of his/her field.Pennies saved in your home business can turn into dollars at the end of the day, and dollars can quickly multiply into hundreds or thousands of dollars over time.Doubt me if you will, but let me ask you a question. Do you think a saving of two fifths of a penny could make any real difference in the profit margin of a home business? Of course the right answer is “it depends on how many transactions are done in a year, utilizing the savings of the two fifths of one penny.”You only have to think back a couple of decades to really appreciate this question. Do you remember the nut that lived and died in a Las Vegas hotel room? You know the one who was a billionaire, and was so worried about germs that he died of starvation? If you guessed Howard Hughes (1905-76), pat yourself on the back. Now Howard did not make all of his money on his two fifths of one penny. He did however make a ton of money from his two fifths of one penny. It seems Howard owned a can manufacturing company. And one day, Howard’s team figured out how they could make one minor change in the design of their food can to reduce the amount of tin necessary to make a single can.As the story goes — if my memory serves me correctly — the reduction in tin usage equaled a saving of two fifths of one penny per can. Howard — being the really smart businessman that he was — decided that he would not be so greedy as to keep all of the savings for himself. What Mr. Hughes did do was to keep half of the savings for himself, and give the other half to his customers. The incredible thing about Mr. Hughes decision is that by saving his customers an extra one fifths of one cent per can, he managed to take more market share away from his competition — netting his company an additional and substantial portion of the total market share in the canning industry.Let us return our thoughts to your home business. Have you ever gotten the feeling of excitement — when you read something or thought of something — that you could not wait to implement this new idea? This could be one of those moments…In every home business, there are certain processes that we do over and again. Sometimes it may be possible to trim the time or expense of a process which in turn will add pennies or dollars to your bottom line. If it is a process that you do hundreds or thousands of times per month, then your savings will multiply into hundreds or thousands of dollars in monthly savings.Imagine what running a home business was like BEFORE the computer…Before the personal computer, we had to hand type all letters and invoices. Now, we can setup a letter or invoice that we send out quite often, and we can save it in our word processor so that when we need to use it again, we can print it quickly and efficiently. There is no longer a need to type the document again from scratch. The computer has simplified our business communications and has provided us the opportunity to reduce our costs of doing business.Think about all of the other processes that the computer has enabled us to do for far less expense than what we could in the past.In this case, the computer is a tool that permits us to save time and money. So, my challenge to you is to begin examining the processes in your own home business and look for ways in which you can save yourself time and money. It is far better for you to contemplate on this matter than it is for me to do so for you. Simply put, you know your business better than anyone on the planet does. Therefore, you are in a better position than anyone to find those extra dollars that will decrease your costs and increase your profits. The extra pennies and dollars you could extract from your business could spell the difference between success and failure for your home business enterprise.

You have been planning your garage sale for weeks now. Your garage, as well as you whole home, is stuffed with old records, books, clothing, vacuum sweepers, and other odds and ends that you have no use for anymore. Instead of just tossing your clutter into the neighborhood landfill, you’ve decided to hold one of the most time-honored traditions in civilization–the garage (or yard) sale. It can be a thankless task, becoming a pawnbroker for a day, but there’s definitely good money in it–if you know how and, more importantly, where to organize your garage sale.First, of course, you need to get your sales items together. Garage sales are a great way to recycle stuff that you no longer have room for. You’d be surprised what doodads and miscellany your neighbors will want–musty books, old silver wear, framed photos of long-lost third cousins, and other unmentionables that you’ve had no use for since who knows when. Even more surprising, your neighbors are willing to shell out cold hard cash for these items. That makes your garage sale a win-win proposition for you.Come to think of it, though, a garage sale at your home can be a real chore. It takes a Herculean effort to collect and organize every last little thing you want to sell. Then you have to tag each item and keep track of it in a hardcopy log. To ensure that your neighbors show up with cash in hand, you must create, print up, and pay for flyers, which need to be distributed on telephone poles and supermarket message boards across the region. The work can seem endless and your chances of making a profit slim.Don’t get me wrong. Your garage sale was a great idea, but as you can see, there are many limitations to holding one at your house the old-fashioned way. Get with the times. The garage sale has evolved thanks to the multitude of Web sites that allow you to sell your goods online. People are selling more stuff than ever on the Internet because of the convenience of Web classified sites. The Internet holds several crucial advantages over selling your stuff the outdated way. When you compare these benefits to the problems with home-based garage sales, you’ll see the difference:ONLINE: Your items are available for purchase for an unlimited time, until they sell.AT HOME: Your items are available until you call it quits for the night.ONLINE: Rain, sleet, or snow, your sales aren’t affected in the least.AT HOME: Better have a rain date or a very big umbrella.ONLINE: No need to constantly watch over your goods or interact with uninterested customers. Just wait until a customer contacts you by e-mail when they are ready to purchase.AT HOME: Be prepared for countless hours of staring down the street for customers to appear. When they do arrive, be prepared for too many questions but too few purchases.ONLINE: Advertise for free to your friends and neighbors over e-mail.AT HOME: Shell out money for flyers, after which you can get to know all of the telephone poles in your neighborhood.ONLINE: Spend your weekends the way they were meant to be: relaxing and enjoying your time with friends and family.AT HOME: Spend your weekend waking up early, buying and distributing flyers, lugging boxes, and waiting for customers. As you can see, it’s not an even match. An online garage sale wins hands down. Now that you’re actually excited to get started with your garage sale, you should know that there is one caveat. As easy as it may seem, your online garage sale will be even easier if you choose the right classified site.Your best bet is to do your research and find classified sites with the most features and benefits, such as (1) No sign-up, registration, or transaction fees. (2) Free ad listing with text description and pictures. (3) Long-term ad posting and free renewals. (4) Easy, accurate, electronic, and automatic record keeping. The best classified sites have these incredible features and then some. Not only will you be able to clean out your home’s clutter with the help of these classified sites. Your garage sale will also park a profit in your pocket.
Do you find yourself struggling to balance spending quality time with your family, exercising your faith and running a business all in the same day? Is it really possible to have the best of every aspect of life and still keep your sanity?Time management or should I say, “Life” management, is a very critical piece in every persons life that desires to leave a legacy in this world. Life is no longer as simple as it used to be and we all thought that as new technology is introduced, it would make everything easier, but unfortunately it makes everyone more demanding. There are a few key steps to achieving balance in your life, and I believe that if applied correctly, it will dramatically improve your lifestyle.#1. Keep a journal for one week that clearly outlines where all your time is being spent. This will help you see where all your time is being invested. This may sound foolish, but the average person spends about 72 hours watching television over the course of a week. We all enjoy good entertainment, but some of that time could be spent building relationships or making a few extra bucks.#2. Review the journal and analyze where the time is being spent. This will help you to see who or what is getting the most attention and where adjustments may need to be made.#3. List your priorities. These vary from person to person, but we all have them. This is a step that cannot be skipped because here is where you list your passions. Mine are as follows: God, Family, Ministry, Work, Hobbies and everything else falls below that.#4. Place two columns beside the priority list. The first column is the percentage of time that your journal says you spent in each area. The second column is the desired percentage that you want to reach in that area. This is where is begins to be fun because you have reached a point in which your taking action to improve your life based on your priorities.#5. Set goals. For each of your priorities set a one year goal that you would like to attain outlining the percentage of daily or weekly time you would like to commit to it. Then set a six month goal after that which will act as a key milestone. Next, list a 3 month, 1 month, 1 week and tomorrows goals after that. This will help in you in taking a little action each day towards that one year goal.#6. Stick to your plan. Procrastination is probably the number one reason for failure. Nobody wants to fail and I believe that each person in this world has the potential to be successful at whatever they set their heart to do. Perseverance is the ability to pick yourself up after failure and continue moving forward towards your goals.Hopefully this article is helpful to you in achieving balance in your life based on the things that are most dear to your heart. There will be days that you’ll fall short, but if you keep focused and don’t give up on your goal, you will reach it.

You should have a workable strategy that will give your projects direction and that point you to success. Designing a good strategy will help you achieve your objectives and overcome all obstacles along the way.5. Energy – Without the vitality, enthusiasm and perseverance to be a mover and shaker, it will be very hard for your home business to succeed. Success is a by-product of mental, physical and spiritual energy that urges us on toward achieving our goal. You can if you think you can!”There are but two roads that lead to an important goal and to the doing of great things: strength and perseverance. Strength is the lot of but a few privileged men; but austere perseverance, harsh and continuous, may be employed by the smallest of us and rarely fails of its purpose, for its silent power grows irresistibly greater with time.” — GoetheCopyright © Ian Canaway(Feel free to use this article online and in your email newsletters as long as you leave it intact and do not alter it in anyway. Advertising Consulting Services: Advertising is one of the most important expenses a business can have. Businesses large and small, have some form of advertising, be it word of mouth referrals or multi million dollar television campaigns. Business owners of all black porn types will pay good money for the right kind of advertising. That is why advertising consulting services on the Internet is becoming so popular. There are two key things you need to know when considering starting out as an internet advertising consultant. The first of course is advertising experience. If you have done advertising in the past and enjoy the work, then that is the first step.Secondly, you need to know about the Internet. Your Internet knowledge needs to be updated constantly to keep abreast of the current trends. While contemporary advertising – television, radio, and print, are still effective means of advertising, the Internet needs to be approached a bit differently. When watching television or listening to the radio, people don’t generally have a choice about what they see and hear in the line of commercials. Those commercials of course are advertising. Even when reading the newspaper or a sale ad, people only see what is in front of them, not all the options available. If one grocery store buys an ad in the local newspaper and another grocer does not, the consumer is only seeing one ad.The Internet has changed the face of this kind of advertising. Anytime that someone opens a web page; they are looking for something specific. People who surf five or six web sites are likely to see hundreds of ads without really knowing they are seeing advertising. Banners, affiliate links, tool bars and the like are all types of Internet advertising, revealing products or brands in front of the consumer. If a consumer is looking for a product online, and does not know where to find it, or there are multiple sources to find it, the savvy Internet user generally goes to a search engine. Searching for the product by typing in the general name or brand that they are looking for, the consumer can then choose from a list of sites that offer that product. Search engine optimization (SEO) is a system of strategic placing of certain words or keyword phrases on a web site that will allow the search engine to select that site if someone types in that word or phrase. The key to SEO – the first sites to pop up are the ones that are hit on the most often.Knowing these concepts and expanding on them allows internet advertising consultants to guide and direct business owners in the most effective line of advertising for their products. Many people who run successful Internet businesses are people who don’t know much about the differences between Internet and other forms of advertising. You are the link that these business people need to market their products.Internet Advertising Consulting Services are quickly becoming a specialized field. There are so many aspects of the Internet that business owners, especially those new to the web as a market, will not know and will be grateful to you for showing them. Knowing how to get those companies names and brands out their on the web will give you an edge over advertising companies that are still focusing on contemporary methods of advertising. The Internet is not a fad or a passing phase. The challenges and changes that are coming with this relatively new market are going to be both exciting and profitable for anyone who embraces it. Open your own advertising consulting services business today and step into the future.
Having been in the field of electronics from the middle 60s until today, it has been to my awestruck amazement to watch technology move from the lowly tube of yesterday into today’s modern wonders in electronics. It seems to this engineer, however, that there is a passion for making everything we use digital, that much of the simplicity and ease of the analog has been discarded and in many cases the Rube Goldberg philosophy of engineering has been adopted: Why do something simple when you can make it complex?Case in point: Did you know that there is a wire that expands and contracts depending on the temperature? We used it in thermostats. Why then do you need a processor controlled, programmable, state of the art controller that takes a 15 page illustrated book of directions to turn on the heat in a chicken coop, garage, or a greenhouse? If you talk to some of the young engineers today and mention Conventional current or a Logarithmic nomograph, they will look at you like you’re speaking in tongues. For those who don’t know what a nomograph is, it is a set of parallel perpendicular graphs that will show you that 20 volts across 5 ohms dissipates 80 watts. This is done by simply drawing a straight line through the graphs.Today they solve the problems by plugging a set of numbers into a screen and an algorithm buried in a line of code somewhere in a program spits out an answer. If asked how the answer was arrived at they answer “it’s right there on the screen”.People can learn from the past. For a while NASA couldn’t hit their butt with a board, let alone successfully land on Mars. My generation managed to land on the surface with out too much trouble. You would think that after the first couple of failures someone would go back in the archives and see how it was done.Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to go back to the time of the PDP-8 computer that had a row of octal programmable switches, fed by paper tape, and had 4K of core memory. But it would be nice once in a while to have something come on without getting the command “Please wait while the system boots.” Just because technology is old doesn’t mean it is not relevant. I would like to have a piece of equipment that has a switch that actually turns something on and off without talking to a processor. There are times you would like the off/on switch to work just by adding or removing the power.OHM’S LAW STILL WORKSAnd there is still a place for a fuseI have designed something straight forward, simple and it works. It is called the Lightning Lockout Safety Switch™. It does just what it says it does. If you’re interested go to http://mrsegrowings.com/ [http://www.mrsegrowings.com]
“I’ve heard you talk about building a website to get telecommuting jobs. Can you tell me more about this, and how I would do it?”If you all listen to WAHMTalkRadio.com, then you might have heard me talk about using a website to help you get a work at home job. Basically, what I said was that in this field, you NEED to stand out from the crowd, and you can do this many different ways. One of them is to make a website to showcase you, your skills, experience, portfolio, resume, and more.I started to answer this question, and before I knew it, the answer turned into pages and pages! Instead of overwhelming you with too much to read at one time, I’m going to break this into a two part answer. Why Build a Website?Your main objective is to stand out from the crowd of competition, and this is yet another way to do that. Building your own website shows you’re creative, unique, and you are willing to go above and beyond in order to get the job.Think of it this way. You are applying to a job where hundreds of others have applied, too. Now, they won’t all be as qualified as you all the time, but let’s say 100 are. The employer is sifting through resume after resume; then they come across yours. They click on your link, and it opens up… and there you are! With your picture, bio, resume, and all the other great stuff I’m going tot talk about below. Don’t you think that at the very least you would stand out from the crowd? You might not always get the job because of a website, but it can’t hurt, and it will make you more noticeable. What to include? Here are my recommendations for your website, but remember, you can do as much or as little on the website as you’d like. The website needs to reflect you, and therefore you can add to it or remove from it what you would like. Your Bio – Include a little bit about yourself, your experience, and your skills. The potential employer can get to know you a little bit right off the bat.Your Picture – Like milf porn I’ve said before, it could just make you feel more real to the employer. Since they can put a face to the name, they might remember you more then someone who just has a resume.Your Voice – Of course, this isn’t one of those die hard rules. I enjoy the option of listening to someone’s greeting/intro, but I know some aren’t comfortable recording their own voices. I do, however, think this is yet another great way to have the employer see you as a real person. Not only can they see your picture, along with your skills and experience, but they could also hear your voice. I use audio on my websites/blogs and newsletters. I find them a great way to communicate and seem more real to my readersYour Resume – This has all the necessary information that the employer will need. Please be sure to spell check your resume, along with the rest of the website. I would also recommend you having the resume done professionally. Think of it as investing into yourself and your future. I’ve also been told that you can write off a resume on taxes, so keep that in mind.Your Portfolio – If you have one and you’re looking for work online, the only place to showcase your portfolio is online. It would be a perfect addition to your website. Your portfolio can be one of two things: it can either be work you’ve done, or it can be samples of work you can do. Just have fun with it, and be creative. These are just some of my own suggestions. There are many other things you can do, and I’m sure you will come up with some great ideas for your own personal website. The next article in the series I’m gong to talk about how you can get your website out there in front of potential employers. After all, you can build an amazing website, but if you don’t know how to get it out there and seen, there’s really no point to it.
Being an entrepreneur and working from home has to be one of the most rewarding opportunities available to us.What other business or organization would allow you to work in your slippers with curlers in your hair (or whiskers on your face!) while speaking with clients, negotiating contracts, or managing transactions? How many jobs will afford you the opportunity to take a 15-minute break to get dinner on the stove or plant a flower garden?None that I’m aware of.Today was a workday for me. It was designated as record keeping, strategic planning, creative thinking, get-everything-in-order day.Today I …- wrote several business articles- cleaned up my e-mail inbox- paid bills- updated my business expense spreadsheet- analyzed my monthly income statement- reviewed last month’s activities and revisited strategies and goals for the month ahead- reviewed my client files to determine whether or not check-in e-mails were in orderI accomplished everything I set out to and more. While working on the above tasks, I took several 15- minute breaks. During these breaks I …- did two loads of laundry- cleaned a bathroom- weeded one flower bed- raked a few dead leaves off the lawn- got supper startedWhen I need to get away from my desk for a while, I take little “breaks” that allow me to work on a small task around the house.Sometimes, I just sit on my back deck with a glass of grape juice or water in my hand, and enjoy the warm sun as I watch the chipmunks; squirrels and foxes run around the yard. It’s a little piece of heaven.I remember the days when I crawled out of bed in the morning, scraped an inch of ice off my windshield, and headed to work.Parking is very expensive in our downtown core, so I would park in a lot a few blocks from my workplace to get a reduced rate. I would wear multiple layers of clothing, big mitts and a warm hat and scarf so I wouldn’t freeze while walking (make that running!) to my office building. It would be dark when I went to work and it would be dark when I left for home at the end of the day. I seldom saw the sun during the winter months.By Friday evenings I would be dog-tired and not interested in any social interaction. I just wanted to sleep.I spent my weekends doing laundry, cleaning house, and taking care of family commitments. Every Sunday evening I would feel sadness and anguish, knowing I was about to repeat the cycle again. As I sat on my deck for a short while today enjoying the warm spring sun, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for my business and I acknowledged myself for the long evening and weekend hours I dedicated myself to in order to build my business.I worked hard. As a matter of fact, I still work hard, but it’s different when it’s something you love. Sometimes I put in really long days, and sometimes I slow the pace a little to maintain balance. There were times when I didn’t know if I could go on without burning out, but thankfully, I had a great peer group of coaches who were always there to back me up and cheer me on.To me, the reward of having my own home-based business is the freedom to choose how I manage my time.I have the freedom to be creative.I have the freedom to plan my tasks as I see fit, and the only person I answer to when there is a setback, is myself.I am the captain of my ship and although I run a tight one (I’m harder on myself than any cartoon porn boss ever was), I still consider it a never-ending victory cruise.Building and growing a successful home-based business requires intense desire, steadfast dedication, a solid plan, sacrifice, quality products and services, specific skills, ongoing support, risk taking, and an unwavering belief in yourself and your dream.Would I do it all over again given the choice? You bet!As a matter of fact, if I had a magic wand I would roll the clock back 20 years and start much earlier.Being a home-based business owner is a rewarding dream and is worth every minute of effort needed to make it real.
